*****DESIGNER DIVA DELIGHTFUL PUPS*****

TO HAVE OR NOT TO HAVE... A PUREBRED PUPPY?   THAT IS THE QUESTION!!!

Considering the wave of comments from the Oprah Show, and other media coverage; I want to make  some points and comments:

1.  As a Professional Breeder, I have owned and bred purebred dogs since 1985, carefully critiquing the lineage of each sire and dam (most with excellent AKC Champion backgrounds); and ALWAYS trying to continue the lineage with a  higher quality, temperament, adaptability and healthier puppy.   Make no mistake, it has taken us many years to be able to provide a new puppy owner with a “perfect” puppy that has less opportunity for medical and/or behavioral problems than puppies you may find in shelters or establishments with no idea of the sire or dam’s lineage and defects whether hereditary or congenital.

2.   For many years we have owned only  purebred  breeds; however, with the increasing interest in the mixed or Hybrid breed of puppy, we have explored this realm of breeding.   Again, we have carefully selected each sire and dam to arrive with an offspring that is of good quality, temperament and adaptability.

3.  As a result of paragraphs 1 & 2, we readily offer our new puppy owners with a Contract/Guarantee along with a Full Vet Exam at the time the puppy is ready to go to his/her new home assuring that you will receive a puppy that is in utmost health, current on vaccination/wormings and ready to adapt to its new environment with the least amount of complications to the best of our ability.

4.   I have gained knowledge that reflects there is an under population of purebred dogs – and that the over abundance of dogs found in shelters, pounds and rescues are not generally purebred, but mixed breeds from parents to which no one knows either backgrounds.   I do support spay/neuter of family owned dogs or cats that are for the companionship of the family.  Hopefully this will keep the numbers in the shelters, pounds and rescues to a bare minimum.  But I do believe that every person has a right to select a puppy  from a shelter, pound or rescue OR to select  a puppy from a breeder that knows the backgrounds of their sire and dam.

5.   I have been told many times that when I buy from a breeder;  shelter and pound dogs will die, and that I should “adopt” one of those instead.   Not everyone wants a dog from a shelter, pound or rescue.   YOU MAY BE ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE.    YOU may NOT want a dog from any of those sources.   YOU may NOT want a dog with no pedigree, no registration papers and a questionable background.   This is AMERICA.    I’m sure you will agree that both you and I want to exercise our rights as a citizen to participate in the free enterprise system and purchase a dog from the place of our choice.   Telling me that I should not breed a dog or buy from a breeder until all dogs are adopted from shelters, pounds and rescues is like telling people they should have no more children until all children without homes are adopted, thereby creating a socialist state.

6.  I do not believe in a socialist agenda that dictates what I can and should do with my animals in my own home.    I do NOT support true animal abuse and neglect, but I believe in using common sense rather than lynch-mob emotion when making such judgments.

7.   There are good and bad apples in every facet of animal ownership.   I have seen good and bad in the dog industry.   Are they all perfect in the care of their dogs? ... consider - Is every dog interest perfect?   Are ALL hobby/show people running a perfect kennel?  Are ALL rescues/shelters/pounds running their operations in a hospital-like surrounding?   Are ALL shelters/rescues/pounds spotlessly clean and free of disease and dirt?   Are ALL commercial kennels operating 100% to Animal Welfare Act requirements?

Our major areas of effort are to end overpopulation and  the suffering of dogs.   We are in agreement to putting an end to Puppy Mills with inadequate housing facilities which do not offer adequate living conditions that provide for a healthy and comfortable life.   We strive to provide a home environment equipped with the best heating/ cooling/ air purifying and air quality control systems which  help keep our puppies comfortable and stress-free.

BE CAREFUL!!!   Be Warned!!!
“For every dog purchased from a pet store or a breeder, a dog in an animal shelter is killed”
“Fragile fish, meant to live freely in spacious waters, suffer miserably when forced to spend their lives enclosed in glass aquariums.”  “Captive birds, meant to fly and enjoy others of their own kind, go crazy from confinement, causing them to have temper tantrums and mood swings.” ...
Recognize these statements?  These quotes come from website of one of the pet industry’s opponents - People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) – and they represent just a SMALL part of the group’s efforts to forever END the sale of companion animals.   Likewise, many pet owners who support PETA have no idea that the group considers them animal abusers for keeping companion birds or aquarium fish; as well as any other type of companion pet: i.e. dogs, cats, horses, hamsters,...    Make no mistake, we are in a fight to preserve our right to own pets.  It’s time to decide: Will you support groups such as these, or will you fight back?

While I’m all for the “ethical treatment of animals”,  statements like those above reflect the organizations’ habit of making sweeping generalizations, regardless of whether or not their assertions are based on facts.   Even more unfortunate is the fact that a growing number of people are buying into this misinformation out of ignorance.   We, however, do actively support group efforts, such as “ALMOST HOME” and other national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organizations dedicated to the relief of suffering.   Most of these organizations do not receive governmental funding.  Most times, the administrative staff is all-volunteer.  We will continue to honorably support these agencies.   Generally, these organizations offer low-cost spay/neuter clinics, where all animals receive the benefits of the best modern equipment, surgical techniques, and supplies for their maximum health and comfort.  We have found them to be purely dedicated to the animals that are received into their facilities.     Should you wish to contribute to their cause, we will supply you with contact information.     They send their heartfelt gratitude to their generous and kind donors who make their endeavors a success  – together, we can be a powerful symbol of kindness, love and mercy.
